Roundy is an Estonian brand, selling Spikeball (roundnet) equipment. Roundnet Tallinn is its associated sports team which organizes roundnet trainings in Tallinn, Estonia.
Roundy needed a logo, and Roundnet Tallinn team was missing a team emblem that represents their spirit.
The Roundnet Tallinn team had been gathering for trainings for about two years. They performed well on the roundnet field, and now was the time to make a proper visual representation for the team.
The emblem is inspired of Harry Potter’s Golden snitch, which resembles the yellow roundnet ball. The permanent marker typography conveys a sense of motion and playfulness. As the background, we have the roundnet field, which is recognizable by every roundnet enthusiast.
The circle-shaped logomark draws inspiration from the sport’s circular court, embodying the dynamic energy of the game. With flowing, organic curves, it captures a sense of fluid motion and movement.
This logomark is paired with a bold geometric sans-serif typeface, creating a balancing contrast.
Both the client and I recognized the potential of a stylized “R” to simultaneously honor the brand name “Roundly” while capturing the essence of roundnet sport.
The process to getting to the simple final result took multiple iterations and thoughtful refinement
We decided to use yellow as the primary color, since the roundnet sports is largely associated with it. I kept the coral pink as an accent color, to have a separating element from the competitors.
Since two of the main competitors also use yellow, I carefully select the tone of the yellow, so it wouldn’t there wouldn’t be any direct overlap.
